August 26 2009 : 2009: perhaps the best of the "9s" ?

There’s a proverb that says: "Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched". So let’s wait for the start of the harvest, which has been set for 27 August for the Beaujolais and Beaujolais Villages, to give us a clearer view of this 2009 vintage, which probably be of higher quality than those of 2003 and 2005.

September 16 2009 : The 2009 grape harvest in Beaujolais

We had perfect weather for it, with grape-pickers going busily and cheerfully about their work. The grape bunches are small, bursting with sunshine, a fine purplish black colour and exceptionally rich in sugar. The berries are thick and the seeds are a gorgeous amber colour, a sign of perfect phenolic maturity.

October 20 2009 : 2009, the sunshine vintage

Every day, we are tasting some 200 samples of Beaujolais and Beaujolais Villages 2009. Considering the fullness and structure of the wines, it’s not easy to pick out the best from amongst the very good.

Le début des vendanges a été fixé au 27 août pour les Beaujolais et les Beaujolais-Villages, mais dès le 25 août, nous avons vu des troupes de vendangeurs dans les terroirs les plus précoces.
