Chenas

Chénas, the village that has given its name to the wine (unless it’s the other way round!), is the smallest of the ten Crus in terms of volume. Its name is thought to have originated from the Gallic word "cassanus", which means a place planted with oak. Some people say that Chénas was Louis XIII’s favourite wine. To merit royal favour is no mean compliment. It is, indeed, a hearty, elegant wine, worthy of the finest tables.

This wine is cherry red with lovely purple tints, and releases expressive, complex red berry and blackcurrant aromas, with a hint of almonds. This clean-tasting wine fills the mouth with fleshiness and grape aromas, then reveals young, promising tannins.
Persistent and pleasant, an excellent ambassador for the appellation.
