Pouilly Fuissé

This is the almost Romanesque story of a wine closely linked to the soil, a superb white burgundy nourished and fashioned by a first-class "terroir". The surprising profile of the twin rocks of Solutré and Vergisson stand out against the sky like the prows of two ships. Beneath them, the most prestigious vineyards in the Mâconnais, Cru Pouilly-Fuissé, cling to the slopes with a mixture of pride and gentleness. Alexis Lichine compared the two promontories to the twin rocks of Gibraltar, the famous Columns of Hercules, which close the Mediterranean off from the Ocean.

This wine is a fine example of its type, round, fleshy, full-bodied and hearty with powerful white blossom and almond aromas and dried fruit flavours with a subtle hint of figs. A great Burgundy age worthy.
