Waone is the artist name of Volodymyr Manzhos, born in 1981 near Kyiv, Ukraine. His passion for drawing began at an early age, thanks to his father, an art lover and great collector of Orthodox icons. He developed his technique and unique style without formal training.
In 1999, he began his artistic career in Kyiv by painting graffiti until 2003. Bored with letters, he rethought his art and turned to visual storytelling by creating colorful mural paintings. In 2005, he formed the duo Interesni Kazki (“Interesting Fairy Tales”) with his friend Aec. Together, they traveled the world, painting large murals in Europe, Russia, India, Mexico, and the United States. Their works are fairy tales inspired by medieval engravings and religious imagery.
In 2016, the duo split up. Waone deepened his visual language with elegant and detailed lines and explored the nuances of black and white. However, he continues to produce works in his signature style, including the poster he designed to celebrate the arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau by Georges Duboeuf, a collaboration we are delighted to present.
