Chiroubles has the distinction of being the highest Cru , rising to a height of 450 metres. From the high balcony formed by its vineyards, you can look down on the vast plain of the Saône, which the very Burgundian Henri Vincenot affectionately called the mother of rivers . As for most of the Beaujolais Crus, the wine has taken on the name of its village. It has also taken on its loftiness, which is expressed in its body and attributes by its purity, exquisite nature and grace. One would be tempted to compare Chiroubles with a superb model dressed in bright red silk.
To the taste, it is the lightest of the Beaujolais wines, but strongly marked by red berry flavours. It gives the drinker the pleasant sensation of sliding through the mouth. According to a local poet who loved everything beautiful in this world, Chiroubles is Beaujolais extravagance .
