History

The premises are the former buildings of the “Relais des Diligences”, which was part of the Auberge des Maritonnes in Romanèche-Thorins. The Prieuré Saint Romain area was an important resting place on the Paris-Lyon route. Travelers were dropped off at the Maritonnes. The coachmen would then come with their carriages to take a break at the Relais des Diligences. Gabriel PIN bought these premises in 1950. They were used for mixed farming until 1968, when René PIN decided to devote himself solely to the cultivation of vines. The premises, with a large surface area, were transformed into a vat room and a cellar. In 1982, René PIN registered the name “Domaine du Prieuré Saint Romain”. Since 2003, Bruno, René’s son, has been running the estate.

Weed control is practiced, as well as reasoned treatment, in order to respect the terroir and the environment.
Harvesting is done by hand.
The vat room and the cellar (cement and stainless steel tanks) are thermo-regulated tank by tank.
Fleurie is vinified in the traditional Beaujolais method.

Tasting

Brilliant garnet color. In the glass, perfumes are revealed by successive touches : aromas of ripe black fruits, a touch of macerated Morello cherry and a note of fresh fig. A generous and warm matter which lets express a solar fruity. Sumptuously fat mouthfeel. A Fleurie of character.
