Laurent GUILLET and his wife took over the family business in 1987. The Domaine de la Chaponne is a real family business, with everybody taking part in the different tasks around the winery, even the grandparents.
Laurent always says that he “loves his terroir”. He pours all his energy into ensuring that the wine is a true reflection of the Morgon appellation.
Most of his plots are located in the part of the appellation with the best climate, the “Côte du Py”. To ensure that the terroir can fully express itself, Laurent adapts how he works both the vines and the wine.
Every two or three years, the land between the rows of vines is ploughed to remove the roots at the surface and force the vines’ major roots to dig deeper into the soil and extract the true essence of the terroir.
There is a genuine partnership in place between the Maison DUBOEUF and the Domaine de la Chaponne. Every year, Georges DUBOEUF buys the majority of the wine produced.
