First things first.
The justly famous beverage known as Beaujolais represents the alpha of wines from its eponymous region, located between Saint-Amour to the north and the outposts of Lyon to the south.
It owes its name to the medieval house of the Sires de Beaujeu.
Records of the first seigneur de Beaujeu date back to around 950 AD.
The world’s best-known red wine has become a national and international icon.
Deliciously fruity, frank and voluble, like an old friend you like to meet, Beaujolais is the wine of friendship.
Quite simply.
In its native terroir, it’s the wine of hospitality, of the “tassée” between its good-natured winemakers and their guests.
This wine has no doubt given its full meaning to the adjective “gouleyant” (easy-drinking), which suits it so well.
Inimitable, because it’s only in the heart of its production area that Gamay reveals the full measure of its charm.
