Chiroubles has the distinction of being the highest Cru in altitude, culminating at 450 meters.
From the high balcony formed by its vineyards, you can admire the immense plain of the Saône, which the Burgundian Henri Vincenot affectionately called the “mother of rivers”.
As with the majority of Beaujolais Crus, it was the wine that gave the village its name.
It has taken on its full height, expressed in its body and clothes by its purity, exquisite taste and grace.
It’s tempting to compare Chiroubles to a superb mannequin dressed in bright red silk.
Its taste is the most ethereal of all Beaujolais, yet with a distinctly red berry character.
It gives the taster the pleasant sensation of gliding across the palate.
According to a local poet, a lover of all that is beautiful in this world, Chiroubles is “the extravagance of Beaujolais”.
