As its name suggests, C\u00f4te de Brouilly comes from the steep, volcanic slopes of Mont Brouilly.
\nUnless, of course, you prefer the pretty legend that this hill was born of the spill from the hood of a giant who dug up the Sa\u00f4ne!
\nRising to 485 meters, its summit is crowned by the Notre-Dame du Raisin chapel, built in 1955 and dedicated to the Virgin of Fourvi\u00e8re, and offers a splendid panorama of the entire Beaujolais wine-growing region.
\nIts floor is made of granite and hard, dark blue-green schist.
\nThis is the famous “blue stone” that gives this noble cru its vigor and, over time, its great finesse.
\nThe rocks on the slopes store up the sun’s heat during the day, releasing it to the vines at night.
