History

Chénas is the smallest Beaujolais appellation in terms of surface area.
Its name is linked to the commune’s ancient oak plantations, cleared by the Gallo-Romans and then by the monastic orders of Philip V the Long.
Vines have been grown at “Les Darroux” for a very long time.
The Ursuline nuns of Mâcon owned a small estate there, which was sold as national property during the French Revolution.
The vines, which are around sixty years old, are cultivated using sustainable methods.

Tasting

Brilliant garnet color. Intense aromas of ripe black fruits and plums in brandy, intermingled with kirsch and spicy scents. The racy, weathered tannins allow this Chénas to be enjoyed in its youth, or to wait a little before tasting. A wine with character, perfect with prime rib or game.
