History

Domaine du Pourpre is a family estate located in the commune of Chénas.
The MEZIAT family has been working here for 5 generations.
The current owner, Bernard MEZIAT, joined in 1978.
It’s fair to say that we have here a highly experienced winemaker, supported today by his son Tanguy.
The estate’s vines are 65 years old on average, and face south-south-east.
With a density of 9,000 to 10,000 vines per hectare, they are managed using integrated vineyard management, with short goblet pruning.
Yields range from 40 to 50 hl.

Tasting

Purple color. Intense, complex nose with floral scents (rose, peony), black fruit aromas, kirsch notes, enhanced by hints of sweet spices and pepper. The palate is full-bodied, rich and fleshy. Minty, silky, racy tannins provide good structure. Good persistence on the finish.
