History

In 1736, Etienne SORNAY, the ancestor of the MARMONNIER family, who currently own the estate, left his initials on a chimney. These carvings are evidence of just how old this estate really is.

MARMONNIER is a family of some renown in the world of wine: in 1835, a MARMONNIER invented the grape press which bears his name – it is also known as the “American” press, for commercial reasons (at the time, Lafayette was a national hero).

Today, two winemakers handle the work in these vineyards, located in some of the best plots in Morgon, including Charmes. The vines have an average age of 50 years. They are handled sustainably, in an effort to protect the environment and ecosystem.

Tasting

A brilliant, deep garnet colour. Intense aromas of black cherry and forest fruit preserves, with notes of kirsch and sweet spice. A wonderful density on the palate, with superbly soft and unctuous tannins. This Morgon is already a pleasure to drink, and will only get better with age !
