Between Mâcon to the south, Tournus to the north and Cluny in the west, the noble and very Burgundian Chardonnay reigns as absolute master on these limestone soils that suit it so well. Here we are at the heart of the gently undulating countryside so loved by the poet Lamartine. He was born in Mâcon in 1790 and spent the whole of his childhood in the picturesque village of Milly. The great love of his youth, Elvire, triggered his literary vocation. Throughout his extremely active life, Lamartine pursued a dual career of poet and leading politician.
The Mâcon-Villages whites are light, cheerful, charming wines, especially when very young. Whatever the vintage, they are full of fruity and floral subtleties, enhanced by lemony nuances. They are delightfully delicate and simple.
