History

The Domaine de la Roche Noire sits atop the Chénas hills. Their vines cover 11 hectares and are spread between Chénas (0.70ha), Saint-Amour (2.25ha) and most of all Moulin-à-Vent. The vines benefit from varying levels of exposure, with most facing south and east.

There are 10,000 vines per hectare, which are farmed using nonchemical control to preserve the environment. 80% of the grapes are destalked, one third is hot-macerated before fermentation and the rest is pressed and fermented traditionally, in fermenting tanks, racking and returning the wine according to the vintage.

This Domain has been certified HVE. The High Environmental Value corresponds to the most demanding level of an environmental certification system for agricultural and viticultural operations. It is a voluntary approach that aims to identify and promote practices that are particularly respectful of the environment. It focuses on 4 themes: preservation of biodiversity, phytosanitary strategy, fertilization management, water resource management.
