The CARRET family has lived in the commune of Vaux en Beaujolais (Clochemerle) for several generations.
Jean-Claude CARRET’s ancestors farmed the estate on a mixed farming basis.
In the 1970s, his father decided to devote himself exclusively to growing vines.
A third of the estate’s vines were renewed between 1995 and 1999.
Two-thirds of the estate is considered old vines (over 40 years old).
The slopes and exposure of the vineyards make this estate unique.
The vines are goblet-shaped, on slopes of 30 to 40%.
This makes the work more difficult than on the plains.
Yields are 40 hl/hectare.
Harvesting is manual.
Vinification: maceration for 6 to 8 days, with temperature control throughout the fermentation process.
