History
Chénas is the smallest Beaujolais appellation in terms of surface area.
Its name is linked to the commune’s ancient oak plantations, cleared by the Gallo-Romans and then by the monastic orders on the orders of Philip V the Long.
Vines grow on rolling hillsides.
Vines have been grown at “Les Darroux” for a very long time.
The Ursuline nuns of Mâcon owned a small estate here, which was sold as national property during the French Revolution.
The vines, which are around sixty years old, are cultivated using the “lutte raisonnée” method.

Tasting
This Chénas has a brilliant garnet-red color.
This cuvée has everything going for it: gourmand, deep and unctuous, it displays all the faconde of a very ripe Gamay, without overdoing it, where the aromas of small, fresh, juicy black berries dominate.
A Chénas of great charm which will do wonders with ageing, but which already tastes very well.
