This 19th-century château is located in the heart of the Juliénas appellation, in a place known as “Les Capitans”.
Centuries-old cedars in the large one-hectare park bear witness to a great historical past.
The single vineyard surrounds the estate and benefits from an excellent terroir.
The South/South-East exposure allows the grapes to benefit from excellent sunlight and reach perfect ripeness.
According to popular tradition, this “lieu dit” bears traces of a Roman past.
Considered a strategic point, it is said to have been the headquarters of a military staff, hence the name “Capitan”, a reference to its function as a captaincy.
In the 1940s, the château belonged to Mr. Victor PEYRET, who left behind him the Prix Victor PEYRET.
Each year, this prize rewards a personality who has contributed to the promotion of the vineyard.
