Although it took 18 years, the birth of SAINT-VERAN in 1971 was a logical event.
It was the consecration of a wine that had always stood out from the other white wines of the Mâconnais.
The appellation covers 7 communes: Chânes, Chasselas, Davayé, Leynes, Fuissé, Saint Vérand and Solutré-Pouilly.
Geographically, it encircles the famous POUILLY-FUISSE.
So, some are looking for analogies with this great neighbor.
Soil, topography, grape variety and winemaking techniques all have something in common, but SAINT-VERAN has its own distinctive taste.
