Morgon

History

Very long ago, by a whim of geology perhaps, the soil of the Morgon cru underwent a metamorphosis: granite became schist, which later decomposed to such a degree that winegrowers call it “rotten rock.” Yet it is from this terroir that the Gamay stock would draw the special vigor that gives the Morgon appellation its distinctive characteristics.

Here again we have relied on the “terroir/vine age/exposure” formula to create our Prestige Blend-Excellent maturity and perfect vinification. After which, sniffing glass after glass, it took dozens of tastings over three or four months to come up with our Morgon Prestige.

Tasting

Virile, strong and robust, the nose reveals aromas of kirsch, raspberry and quince, punctuated by notes of spices and green peppers. In the mouth it is full-bodied and well rounded, and it tastes of very ripe red berries that nicely coat the palate, like silk. This typified, solid and generous Morgon will brave the next three or four years with pride and without a wrinkle.
