Morgon is the name of a hamlet which, because of its reputation as a wine-growing area, has been added to that of the village of Villié.
Morgon is undoubtedly the most distinctive of the ten Beaujolais crus, and the easiest to identify on tasting.
Its taste of terroir intensifies with age, and we call it “morgonne”.
Hervé LACOQUE settled on this estate, which dates back 5 generations, in 1985.
It covers 4 climats in the Morgon appellation: Micouds, Charmes, Corcelette and Côte du Py.
Côte du Py is a hill of eruptive origin: a local peculiarity that sits at the heart of the Morgon appellation.
Its deep, well-drained soil provides ideal conditions for Gamay grapes to ripen and flourish.
