From nine to ten.
The very comfortable circle of nine has been softened by a new suitor.
In other words, he had some serious arguments in his favor.
He made his official entrance in 1988.
On a hillside, immersed in a sea of vines between their two elders Morgon to the north and Brouilly to the south, the two neighboring villages of Régnié and Durette merged in 1973, as a prelude to the revision of their status and their elevation to Cru.
This natural rapprochement seems to be reflected in Régnié’s church, original to say the least, and its two bell towers, one for Régnié, one for Durette.
If you find a resemblance with the Fourvière basilica in Lyon, it’s hardly surprising, since the architect is the same.
Much more than just a job, it’s a passion that drives the winegrowers of this young cru, who are determined to make their wines appreciated and respected.
It’s been jokingly said that a single glass of Régnié will teach you more about the Beaujolais region than all the books written on the subject!
So let’s give it a try!
