Jean Couty, born on March 12, 1907 in Saint-Rambert-l’Île-Barbe and died on May 14, 1991 in the 1st district of Lyon, was a painter. His parents were originally from the Creuse. His ancestors were farmers and masons. It was while on vacation in the Creuse that he drew and painted his first compositions. In 1928, he made his first drawings of Romanesque churches. He also often drew at the Vaise water station.
