History

The surprising profile of the twin rocks of Solutré and Vergisson stand out against the sky like the prows of two ships. Beneath them, the most prestigious vineyards in the Mâconnais, those of Pouilly Fuissé, extend over the communes of Fuissé, Chaintré, Solutré-Pouilly and Vergisson. These rocks have a certain prehistoric and historic value. In 1987, a unique Museum of Prehistory was inaugurated in Solutré. It is recognised as one of the most important museums of its kind.

For this special “oak-aged” cuvée, the wine is matured for at least 8 months in new barrels or barrels one or two years old. Most of the French oak barrels are made by a cooper with whom we have worked closely for over thirty years.

Already complex, the wine is enhanced by a delicate hint of oak and vanilla that combines superbly with the gun-flint notes characteristic of the appellation.

Tasting

The wine is a golden colour with slight green tints. The aromas are superbly complex: delicately buttery, with dried fruit, almond and hazelnut aromas enhanced by a touch of vanilla. Full and unctuous on the palate with a slight oakiness. A fine, elegant, noble wine with a long finish
